When you download the App and create an account ("Account"), we might collect certain information ("Personal Information") about you.
Once registered, you will be able to review and change this information at any time by accessing your “Edit Profile” page. You control your user profile and are able to correct or update (other than your name, email address, mobile number, and location (which is automatically updated)) your information at any time by just logging in to The Round.
The information we collect helps to enhance the App and verify our Users (Robots, unfortunately, are not allowed to match or go on dates). Personal Information such as your name and username may be visible to the public on your profile page.
We may collect Personal Information, including Sensitive Data, and other information. “Personal Information” means individually identifiable information that would allow us to determine the actual identity of, and contact, a specific living person.
"Sensitive Data" means information, comments or content (e.g. photographs, video, profile, lifestyle) that you optionally provide that may reveal your ethnic origin, nationality, religion and/or sexual orientation. By providing Sensitive Data to us, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of Sensitive Data as permitted by applicable privacy laws.
We may also collect your geolocation information with your consent. We may collect this information through a website, mobile application, or other online services. By using the Service, you are authorizing us to gather, parse and retain data related to the provision of the Service. When you provide personal information through our Service, the information may be sent to servers located in the United States and countries around the world.
Information you provide for your user profile that will be public on the App. This information will be available for other users to see; it also helps us surface the right users for you through the Service. This information includes and is not limited to:
- First name
- Date of birth
- Gender identity
- Sexual preferences
- Profile Photos
- Schools attended
- Employment history
- Facts about you
- Dietary preferences
- Religious denomination
- Political preferences
- Tobacco usage
- Marijuana usage
- Alcohol usage
- Drug usage
- Family plans
- Pet ownership
Information you provide for registering your user profile that will be private on the App. This information will not be available for other users to see. However, it may help us surface the right users for you through the Service. This information includes and is not limited to:
- Last name
- Phone number
- Email address
- Location coordinates
- Login information
This information including friend lists found on social media accounts that you connect to your Account on The Round (which might include, for example, your Facebook and Instagram accounts "Social Media Accounts") will not be available for other users to see but may be leveraged by our matchmaking algorithm to surface the right users and recommendations for you through the Service.
Information generated while using the App may be used or shared by our Service. This information includes and is not limited to:
- User Content (e.g., photos, messages, and other materials) that you post to the Service.
- User Actions (e.g., round opt-in actions, dates confirmed, dates attended, dates reviewed) taken in the Service.
- Communications between you and The Round. For example, we may send you Service-related emails (e.g., account verification, changes/updates to features of the Service, technical and security notices). Note that you may not opt out of Service-related e-mails.
In order to access The Round, you may be asked to connect using your Facebook login. If you do so, you authorize us to access certain Facebook account information, such as your public Facebook profile (consistent with your privacy settings in Facebook), your email address, interests, likes, gender, birthday, education history, relationship interests, current city, photos, personal description, friend list, and information about and photos of your Facebook friends who might be common Facebook friends with other The Round users.
You will also be asked to allow The Round to collect your location information from your device when you download and use the Service.
If you chat with other The Round users, you provide us the content of your chats, and if you contact us with a customer service or other inquiry, you provide us with the content of that communication too.
If you contact our Support team, we will receive your email address, and may track your IP address as well as the information you send to us to help resolve your query. We will keep records of our communications with you, including any complaints that we receive from you about other Users (and from other Users about you).
We encourage you to carefully consider the information you disclose about yourself. We also do not recommend that you put email addresses, URLs, instant messaging details, phone numbers, full names or addresses, credit card details, national identity numbers, drivers' license details and other sensitive information on your profile which can be open to abuse and misuse.
Please be careful about posting sensitive details about yourself on your profile such as your religious denomination and health details. While you may voluntarily provide this information to us when you create your profile, including your sexual preferences, there is no requirement to do so.
Please remember that photographs that you post on The Round may reveal information about yourself as well. Where you do upload and choose to tell us sensitive information about yourself, you are explicitly consenting to our processing of your information and making this public to other users.
For safety and security and to ensure you have the best possible user experience, we require users to verify their accounts and might ask for your phone number. We want to avoid having fake accounts created on The Round. These accounts can be used for malicious activities and cybercrime, they threaten our network security. We use a third-party provider for account verification who will keep your phone number for up to 90 days for fraud identification purposes across a range of online platforms and services like The Round. We collect and use your phone number on the basis of our legitimate interests identified above and for the prevention of fraud.
If you opt to purchase any of our premium services, we will process your payment information and retain this securely for the prevention of fraud and for audit/tax purposes. Under data protection laws, it is necessary for us to collect and process this payment data to enable us to perform our contract with you and our ongoing retention of this data is justified by our legitimate interests set out above.
Lastly, we want to keep in touch with you to make sure you know about the great features we have available. If you’ve told us it’s OK, we will use your email address and possibly phone number to send you information on these. You can withdraw this consent at any time by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
We use third-party analytics tools to help us measure traffic and usage trends for the Service. These tools collect information sent by your device or our Service, including the screens you visit, actions taken, and other information that assists us in improving the Service. We collect and use this analytics information with analytics information from other Users so that it cannot reasonably be used to identify any particular individual User.
By using the App, you agree and acknowledge that The Round is a global app operating through servers located in a number of countries around the world, including the United States. If you live in a country with data protection laws, the storage of your personal data may not provide you with the same protections as you enjoy in your country of residence.
By submitting your personal information, or by choosing to upgrade the services you use, or by making use of the applications available on The Round, you agree to the transfer of your personal information to, and storage and processing of your personal information in, any such countries and destinations.
If you turn location access on, when you use your mobile, we will collect information about WiFi access points as well as other location information about your longitude and latitude and may save your device's coordinates to offer certain features to you and help you find better matches and great date spots. This information helps us identify your physical location and we may use it to personalize the App and make it easier for you to interact with other Users, by enabling the information to be displayed and shared with other members choosing to view “nearby” profiles.
If you have enabled location services, but wish to turn it off, you can do so by the following methods:
- iPhone: settings > privacy > location services > The Round
- Android: profiles > privacy > off
We automatically collect information from your browser or device when you visit our Service. This information could include your IP address, device ID and type, your browser type and language, the operating system used by your device, access times, your mobile device’s geographic location while our application is actively running, and the referring website address.
When you visit our Service, we may assign your device one or more cookies or other technologies that facilitate personalization to facilitate access to our Service and to personalize your experience. Through the use of a cookie, we also may automatically collect information about your activity on our Service, such as the pages you visit, the time and date of your visits and the links you click. If we advertise, we (or third parties) may use certain data collected on our Service to show you The Round advertisements on other sites or applications.
We embed pixel tags (also called web beacons or clear GIFs) on web pages, ads, and emails. These tiny, invisible graphics are used to access cookies and track user activities (such as how many times a page is viewed). We use pixel tags to measure the popularity of our features and services. Ad companies also use pixel tags to measure the number of ads displayed and their performance (such as how many people clicked on an ad).

Log file information is automatically reported by your browser or app each time you make a request to access (i.e., visit) a web page or app. It can also be provided when the content of the webpage or app is downloaded to your browser or device.
When you use our Service, our servers automatically record certain log file information, including your web request, Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, browser type, referring / exit pages and URLs, number of clicks and how you interact with links on the Service, domain names, landing pages, pages viewed, and other such information. We may also collect similar information from emails sent to our Users which then help us track which emails are opened and which links are clicked by recipients. The information allows for more accurate reporting and improvement of the Service.
When you use a mobile device like a tablet or phone to access our Service, we may access, collect, monitor, store on your device, and/or remotely store one or more “device identifiers.” Device identifiers are small data files or similar data structures stored on or associated with your mobile device, which uniquely identifies your mobile device. A device identifier may be data stored in connection with the device hardware, data stored in connection with the device’s operating system or other software, or data sent to the device by The Round.
A device identifier may deliver information to us or to a third-party partner about how you browse and use the Service and may help us or others provide reports or personalized content and ads. Some features of the Service may not function properly if use or availability of device identifiers is impaired or disabled.
Metadata is typically technical data that is associated with User Content. For example, Metadata can describe how, when and by whom a piece of User Content was collected and how that content is formatted.
- Help you efficiently access your information after you sign in.
- Remember information so you will not have to re-enter it during your visit or the next time you visit the Service.
- Provide personalized content and information to you and others, which could include online ads or other forms of marketing.
- Provide, improve, test, and monitor the effectiveness of our Service.
- Develop and test new products and features.
- Monitor metrics such as the total number of visitors, traffic, and demographic patterns.
- Diagnose or fix technology problems.
- Automatically update the The Round application on your device.

- Resolve disputes between you and other Users; and
- Investigate fraud, protect our legal rights, and to enforce our Terms & Conditions.
Our goal is to keep your information as secure as possible; we will not disclose, rent or sell a specific user’s information to third parties outside The Round (or the group of companies of which The Round is a part) without your consent, except as noted in this Policy.
We may share User Content and your information (including but not limited to, information from cookies, log files, device identifiers, location data, metadata, and usage data) with businesses that are legally part of the same group of companies that The Round is part of, or that become part of that group (“Affiliates”).
Affiliates may use this information to help provide, understand, and improve the Service (including by providing analytics) and Affiliates’ own services (including by providing you with better and more relevant experiences).
We may share your information with internal Moderators who monitor activity on the apps and approve content.
We also may share your information as well as information from tools like cookies, log files, and device identifiers and location data, with third-party organizations that help us provide the Service to you (“Service Providers”). Our Service Providers will be given access to your information as is reasonably necessary to provide the Service under reasonable confidentiality terms.
We may also share certain information such as cookie data with future third-party advertising partners. This information would allow third-party ad networks to, among other things, deliver targeted advertisements that they believe will be of most interest to you.
We may remove parts of data that can identify you and share anonymized data with other parties. We may also combine your information with other information in a way that it is no longer associated with you and share that aggregated information.
Any information or content that you voluntarily disclose for posting to the Service, such as User Content, becomes available to the public. To change your community privacy settings on the Service, please change your profile setting.
Subject to your profile and privacy settings, any User Content that you make public is searchable by other Users and subject to use under our The Round API.
If you remove information that you posted to the Service, copies may remain viewable in cached and archived pages of the Service, or if other Users or third parties using the The Round API have copied or saved that information.
If we sell or otherwise transfer part or the whole of The Round or our assets to another organization (e.g., in the course of a transaction like a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy, dissolution, liquidation), your information such as name and email address, User Content and any other information collected through the Service may be among the items sold or transferred. You will continue to own your User Content.
We may access, preserve and share your information in response to a legal request (like a search warrant, court order or subpoena) if we have a good-faith belief that the law requires us to do so. This may include responding to legal requests from jurisdictions outside of the United States where we have a good faith belief that the response is required by law in that jurisdiction, affects users in that jurisdiction, and is consistent with internationally recognized standards.
We may also access, preserve and share information when we have a good faith belief it is necessary to: detect, prevent and address fraud and other illegal activity; to protect ourselves, you and others, including as part of investigations; and to prevent death or imminent bodily harm. Information we receive about you may be accessed, processed and retained for an extended period of time when it is the subject of a legal request or obligation, governmental investigation, or investigations concerning possible violations of our terms or policies, or otherwise to prevent harm.
You may access or modify the Registration Information you provided at any time or permanently delete your Account though we sincerely hope you don’t!
When your Account is deactivated, we take reasonable efforts to make sure it is no longer viewable on the App. We are not responsible for any information, pictures, comments, or other content that is deleted from our systems resulting from the deactivation of your Account.
PLEASE NOTE: Even after you remove information from your profile or delete your Account, copies of that information may still be viewable and/or accessed to the extent such information has been previously shared with others or copied or stored by other Users or to the extent such information has been shared with search engines. We cannot control this, nor do we accept any liability for this. If you have given third-party applications or websites access to your personal information, they may retain such information to the extent permitted under their terms of service or privacy policies.
Removed and deleted information may persist in backup copies but will not be available to others in the meantime.
Following termination or deactivation of your account, The Round, its Affiliates, or its Service Providers may retain information (including your profile information) for a commercially reasonable time for backup, archival, and/or audit purposes.
Although we’d like everyone to enjoy The Round, you have to be at least 18 years old to use the App. The Round does not knowingly collect any information about or market to children, minors or anyone under the age of 18.
If you are less than 18 years old, we request that you do not submit information to us. If we become aware that a child, minor or anyone under the age of 18 has registered with us and provided us with personal information, we will take steps to terminate that person's registration and delete their information from our App. If we do delete a profile because you violated our no children rules, we may retain your email and IP address to ensure that you do not try to get around our rules by creating a new profile.
If you choose, you can use our “Share The Round” feature to invite other people to download and create The Round accounts either through your contacts list, or third-party social media sites.
If you choose to invite people through your device’s contacts list, then The Round will access your contacts list and you may select a person directly from the contacts list on your device and send a default or personalized text from your personal account’s phone number. You understand and agree that you are responsible for any charges that apply to communications sent from your device, and because this invitation is coming directly from your personal account’s phone number, The Round does not have access to or control this communication.
Your browsing and interaction on any third-party website or service, including those that have a link on our website, are subject to that third-party’s own rules and policies. In addition, you agree that we are not responsible and do not have control over any third-parties that you authorize to access your User Content. If you are using a third-party website or service and you allow them to access your User Content you do so at your own risk.
California's "Shine the Light" law, Civil Code section 1798.83, requires certain businesses to respond to requests from California customers asking about the businesses' practices related to disclosing personal information to third parties for the third parties' direct marketing purposes. If you wish to find out about any rights you may have under California Civil Code section 1798.83, you can write to us at email@example.com.
From time to time we may disclose your contact information to third parties to allow them to market their products or services to you or for other marketing purposes. This may be information we received from you offline and online. If you want us to stop further sharing your email contact information with third parties (if we have your email contact information), you may notify us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please follow the instructions provided to you by third parties to unsubscribe from their messages. If you have opted-out as described above, and thereafter you chose to use a service or promotion that requires us to contact you or share your information with a third-party, then your previous opt-out preferences will not apply to such service.
In addition, under California law, operators of online services are required to disclose how they respond to "do not track" signals or other similar mechanisms that provide consumers the ability to exercise choice regarding the collection of personal information of a consumer over time and across third-party online services, to the extent the operator engages in that collection.
At this time, we do not track our Users' personal information over time and across third-party online services. This law also requires operators of online services to disclose whether third parties may collect personal information about their users' online activities over time and across different online services when the users use the operator's service. We do not knowingly permit third parties to collect personal information about an individual User's online activities over time and across different online services when using the App.
Under UK and EU law, UK and EU users have the right to lodge a complaint with data protection regulators, and the Information Commissioners’ Office (ICO) is the UK’s lead regulator. You can find out how to raise a concern with the ICO by visiting their website at www.ico.org.uk. If you’re within the EU, you may also get in touch with your local Data Protection Regulator who may
liaise with the ICO on your behalf.
You have a number of rights under European Data Protection law if you are an EU citizen, including the:

Your information collected through the Service may be stored and processed in the United States or any other country in which The Round, its Affiliates or Service Providers maintain facilities. The Round, its Affiliates, or Service Providers may transfer information that we collect about you, including personal information across borders and from your country or jurisdiction to other countries or jurisdictions around the world. If you are located in the European Union or other regions with laws governing data collection and use that may differ from U.S. law, please note that we may transfer information, including personal information, to a country and jurisdiction that does not have the same data protection laws as your jurisdiction.
We use commercially reasonable safeguards to help keep the information collected through the Service secure and take reasonable steps (such as requesting a unique password) to verify your identity before granting you access to your account. However, The Round cannot ensure the security of any information you transmit to The Round or guarantee that information on the Service may not be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed.
Please do your part to help us. You are responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your unique password and account information, and for controlling access to emails between you and The Round, at all times. Your privacy settings may also be affected by changes the social media services you connect to The Round make to their services. We are not responsible for the functionality, privacy, or security measures of any other organization.
In the unfortunate event of the death of a The Round User, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. We will usually conduct our communication via email; should we require any other information, we will contact you at the email address you have provided in your request.
You agree that such courts shall have in personam jurisdiction and venue and waive any objection based on inconvenient forum. You agree that you will not file or participate in a class action against us. In the event there is a discrepancy between this English language version and any translated copies of the Policy, the English version shall prevail.
